Unreel: Know your scroll. Reclaim your time.
Effective Date: October 21, 2026
At Lean Bytes, we believe your attention and digital habits belong to you alone. Unreel is a cross-platform application (Android and iOS) engineered to help you monitor, understand, and limit short-video scrolling (Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, TikTok, and similar feeds).
Unreel is built on an offline-first, zero-knowledge architecture designed with strict privacy by design. We do not inspect your screen content, we do not require account sign-ups, and we never transmit your viewing habits to third-party ad networks or surveillance brokers.
1. Zero Content Inspection: Unreel never reads, parses, OCRs (optical character recognition), or stores on-screen text, captions, comments, creator usernames, video descriptions, or media streams.
2. 100% On-Device Processing: All detection signals, scroll event triggers, and dwell calculations are evaluated entirely on your physical hardware.
3. Local-Only Persistence: Session timestamps, reel counts, daily aggregates, and rule configurations are stored exclusively in your device's local database.
4. No Telemetry Leaks: Unreel does not send your browsing patterns or app usage history to external telemetry servers, trackers, or commercial advertising SDKs.
Unreel operates purely on minimal, anonymous metrics required to deliver its core counting and limit-enforcement features:
| Data Point | Purpose | Storage Location |
|---|---|---|
| Reel Scroll Counts | Quantify how many short videos you have swiped through during a session. | Local on-device SQLite database only. |
| Session Timestamps & Dwell | Calculate session length and active scroll time for daily analytics. | Local on-device SQLite database only. |
| Target App Identifier | Identify which supported app was active (e.g., Instagram, YouTube, TikTok). | Local on-device SQLite database only. |
| User Preference Rules | Store your custom reel limits, schedule windows, and nudge styles. | Local Key-Value / Multiplatform Settings. |
On Android devices, Unreel utilizes an AccessibilityService (ReelDetectorService) configured with the strict flag canRetrieveWindowContent="false".
