1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Lean Bytes ("we", "us", or "our") concerning your access to and use of the Unreel mobile application on Android and iOS devices, as well as any associated software updates, websites, and services.

By downloading, installing, launching, or using Unreel, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not access or use the application.

2. Description of the Service

Unreel is a digital wellbeing and focus utility designed to help users track, understand, and regulate their consumption of short-form video content (such as Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and TikTok). Features include:

• On-Device Reel Detection: Scroll event counting and dwell duration monitoring in supported video feeds.
• Custom Limits & Nudges: User-defined scroll limits, session timers, and friction shields to interrupt doomscrolling.
• Focus Metrics & Daily Trends: Local analytics to visualize scroll patterns and time reclaimed.
• Glance & WidgetKit Integrations: Real-time home screen and lock screen widgets.

4. Platform Detection Differences & Accuracy Disclaimer

You acknowledge that reel detection mechanisms differ depending on operating system architecture:

• Android: Counts are calculated from native AccessibilityNodeInfo scroll events (EXACT). However, because third-party platforms frequently update their user interfaces, temporary discrepancies in scroll detection may occur before app definition updates are applied.
• iOS: Because Apple iOS prohibits direct observation of third-party interfaces, usage on iOS is derived via Apple's Screen Time FamilyControls and DeviceActivity frameworks (ESTIMATED). iOS counts represent time-threshold approximations and are clearly designated as such.

Unreel is an advisory self-management tool and does not guarantee complete prevention of unintended device usage.

5. Device Permissions & User Responsibility

To enable tracking and limit alerts, Unreel requires system permissions, including Android Accessibility, System Overlay, Foreground Service, Usage Access, or Apple Screen Time FamilyControls. By enabling these permissions:

• You confirm that you are the lawful owner or authorized administrator of the device.
• You understand that permissions are used exclusively to calculate reel metrics and display local limit prompts.
• You acknowledge that you may revoke permissions at any time via your device's system settings, which will cause tracking to stop.

6. Independent Third-Party Disclaimer

Unreel is an independent software application developed by Lean Bytes. Unreel is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or in any way associated with Meta Platforms, Inc. (Instagram, Facebook), ByteDance Ltd. (TikTok), Google LLC / Alphabet Inc. (YouTube), Snap Inc., or Apple Inc. All product names, logos, and brands are property of their respective owners.

7. Subscriptions & In-App Purchases

Unreel may offer optional premium features or subscriptions (such as extended trend history or custom shield rules):

• Billing: All payments, recurring subscriptions, and renewals are handled directly by Google Play (for Android) or the Apple App Store (for iOS). Lean Bytes does not collect or store your payment card details.
• Free Trials: If a free trial is offered, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends to avoid being charged the standard subscription fee.
• Cancellations & Refunds: Subscription management and refund requests are governed by the respective store's refund policies (Google Play or Apple Media Services).

8. Acceptable Use & Prohibited Activities

You agree not to:

• Decompile, reverse-engineer, or disassemble Unreel or any portion thereof.
• Use Unreel's accessibility or foreground integrations for any unlawful surveillance or unauthorized activity.
• Bypass or circumvent any application controls, license verifications, or technical protections.
• Redistribute, sublicense, or rent the application without express written permission from Lean Bytes.

9. Intellectual Property

The Unreel application, brand, logo, codebase, visual design, animations, and documentation are the exclusive intellectual property of Lean Bytes and are protected by applicable intellectual property and copyright laws.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

Unreel is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express, statutory, or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that Unreel will be uninterrupted, error-free, or entirely bug-free, or that detection will remain compatible with all future versions or updates of third-party short-video applications.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Lean Bytes, its developers, affiliates, and licensors shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, or consequential damages resulting from:

• Your access to, use of, or inability to access or use Unreel.
• Any discrepancies or delays in reel counting or limit alert timing.
• Any interruption of other third-party applications caused by operating system resource management.
• Any loss of data resulting from device resets, uninstalls, or operating system updates.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Lean Bytes and its team members against any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses arising out of your violation of these Terms or misuse of the application.

13. Termination

These Terms remain in effect while you use Unreel. You may terminate your agreement at any time by uninstalling the application and ceasing all use. We reserve the right to suspend or cease providing software updates or support at our sole discretion.

14. Modifications to Terms

We may revise these Terms occasionally to reflect feature changes or legal requirements. When changes are made, the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document will be updated. Continued use of Unreel following posted modifications constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

15. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any legal actions or proceedings arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in India.
